Another unit study I created in my early blogging days was the Christmas Tree & Saint Nicholas Unit Study. As I went through it this weekend to revamp and update, I realized just how poorly done it was. There were missing pages, misspelled words…oh my goodness, why didn’t someone tell me?! I was actually embarrassed as I went through it. However, I am happy to say it has been updated and all of the pages and activities are included this time!

As a child I always looked forward to Christmas. I loved all the decorations, the lights, the family gatherings and of course, the presents. Several years ago we did away with the traditional “Christmas” in our house and decided that Santa Claus would not visit our home. That’s what prompted me to originally create this unit study for our children.
While we don’t celebrate Santa Claus in our house, the story and history of Saint Nicholas was one we wanted our children to know. In fact, we want them to have the same heart for those less fortunate and to share the love of Jesus with them that Saint Nicholas did. So, this unit study was born.
Do we still participate in Advent? Yes, we do. But, we also talk about the history of the Christmas Tree and talk about the life of Saint Nicholas, the man. We relate these two aspects of Christmas to Advent and the heart of Jesus, which is the true reason we celebrate this season.
I hope you enjoy this unit study as much as my children have and do. It is a great way to introduce the season or to bring in some fun, low-prep homeschooling during the busyness of December.
Included in this pack:
- 41 pages of printables
- Language Arts

2017 has flown right by and Christmas is already in the air! The giving season is upon us and I have partnered with 22 other bloggers to give TWO families $500 Paypal cash in the 4th annual Christmas Blessings Giveaway!
Our hope is to bless two families this year by allowing them to fulfill their kids’ Christmas wishes, pay off a bill, or to help build up their nest egg. Whatever the money ends up being used for, our prayer is that it helps to lessen any financial burden and/or fills a specific need.
You can earn a lot of entries using the Rafflecopter form below. I know it can seem tedious and time consuming to go through all the entries, but isn’t a chance at $500 worth it? I think it is! Plus, if all of these generous bloggers didn’t participate, we wouldn’t have been able to have such big prizes! So I hope you will take the time to go through each entry. Who knows, maybe you will find some new blogs to follow!
The giveaway will run from Monday, November 13th through Wednesday, November 22nd (ends at 11:59pm EST). Winner will be notified by email shortly after the giveaway ends and will have 48 hours to respond to claim the prize or another winner will be drawn. You must have a Paypal account to win.
