Day 7 ~ I am thankful for my 2nd daughter, Punkin.
Today on this 7th Day of Thankfulness, I am thankful for my 2nd daughter and youngest child – Punkin. If you read yesterday’s post, you can imagine my surprise when they told us we were having another little girl. To say I was shocked is an understatement. The moment I saw her for the first time, I was in love – again. She was the biggest of my four kids, weighing in at 10 lbs, 4 oz!! Her cheeks were the chubbiest, most squeezable cheeks I’d ever seen. Her arms and legs looked like the Michelin baby – and I loved it.
Over two years later and she is still just as cuddly and chunky. Her little thighs are the thickest I’ve ever seen and little arms are so roly-poly. I will be sad when she loses her baby fat over the next few years. First, because it means she’s growing and no longer a baby. And second, because she’s so darn cute!! When her hair was just growing in, it had a reddish tint to it and I knew we were in trouble. She was feisty from the get-go and she hasn’t let up since!!
She is full of laughter and smiles. She is my cuddliest child. She will lay her head on your shoulder and just hangout – none of our others did/do. She is curly-headed fireball of energy and life. She loves to eat – everything from grilled chicken to grapes to salmon to oranges. She will try most foods without hesitation, which is a new one for us. She loves to play outside and run around with her brothers and sister. She loves to slide down the stairs in her night-nights. Her favorite shows are Dora and Paw Patrol. She loves to take off her diaper and run away from me. She loves footed pajamas. She loves to drink out of everyone else’s cup, except her own. She loves dogs – as long as they don’t come too close. She loves baby dolls and will cuddle them with all the love she can muster. She loves to put her babies night-night and is so sweet when she does. She loves the color purple. She is just a sponge that soaks up everything she hears and sees. She knows many of her shapes and colors, which totally amazes me. She loves to color and “wite her name”. She loves to sing – whether its songs she knows or ones she and her sister make up and sing at the top of her lungs.
Her new favorite word is “Okay” said as in a question. Usually she asks us for something or to watch something of “hers” followed by a sweet, high-pitched “Okay?” It really is the most precious thing I’ve ever heard. I’ve tried to get it on video to no avail, but I will keep trying. It’s the little things that you want to remember and keep for the future when they are grown. Her smile and lovings after she wakes up from her nap melt my heart.
I was not sure I could handle having 4 children so close together, homeschooling, a new ministry and my homemaking duties. But the JOY this child brings to my life is beyond anything I ever imagined. I am so blessed not only to be her Mommi, but the Mommi to four amazing blessings. My children are my life. I can honestly say that if I didn’t have them – my life would be B-O-R-I-N-G!!!!
