A few years back, our oldest son began showing signs of having issues with materialism. Easter and Christmas became about how many presents he was getting, rather than the TRUE reason. My husband and I talked it over and decided we wanted our children to understand the meaning of these two sacred holidays more than anything. So we changed how we celebrated these two holidays.
We decided big presents were reserved for their birthdays. We decided that for Easter and Christmas we would not give the kids gifts (we do draw names & spend $10 on that person for Christmas). We also decided that in order to get away from the bunnies and baskets that has become Easter, we would call it Resurrection Day. This year I decided to create a unit study reflecting the true meaning of the Easter holiday. I have also found some other great freebies for you from around the web! Enjoy clicking through!!!
